FFA News

This week is National FFA Week.  Each day a different theme will be done to help celebrate.  Students and staff who participate will have their names placed into a drawing for prizes that will be given away at the end of the week.  Here are the theme days for this week’s FFA week: Tuesday- Western Day, Wednesday-Carhartt Day, Thursday-Camouflage/Blaze Orange Day and Friday-FFA Attire or Blue and Gold Day.

Parliamentary Procedure Contest

The Mercer County FFA Parliamentary Procedure team placed 2nd out of the 11 schools in the Section 4 Parliamentary Procedure Contest held on Thursday, January 18th at Abingdon High School.

Individually, Rachel Hawk of the Mercer County FFA placed first as the secretary and Adam Lloyd placed second as a chairman.   The Williamsfield FFA Chapter won the contest.

  • FFA Parliamentary Procedure Contest has been rescheduled for January 18th, 2012. (4pm Abingdon)

 

The Mercer County FFA Chapter donated $500 to the Mercer County Food Pantry this past Tuesday 11/22.

FFA Crops Judging

The Mercer County FFA Crops Judging Team placed second at the Section 4 FFA Crops Judging contest held on November 10th at Avon High School.

West Central won the competition with 1113 points  with the Mercer County team scoring 1108.  Rockridge FFA placed third with 1076 points.

FFA National Convention

Jennifer Lincoln (L) and Kayla Hyett (R) of the Mercer County FFA Chapter received the American FFA Degree at the 2011 National FFA Convention held October 19-22, 2011 at Indianapolis, IN.  The American  FFA Degree is the highest honor bestowed on an FFA member.

FFA Archery Shoot

The Mercer County FFA Chapter held their 1st Annual 3D Archery Tournament on Monday Oct. 17th. Mercer County took 1st place, with Sherrard placing 2nd and the Mercer County Jr. High team placing 3rd. Logan Welch from MCJH placed 2nd overall individual, follwed by Daniel Eggen 3rd, Landon McINtosh, 4th, and Bobby Lincoln 5th.

FFA Land Use (Soils) Judging

The Mercer County FFA Land Use (Soils) Judging team placed first at the Section 4 FFA Land Use  Contest held at Abingdon on Thursday, October 6th.  Adam Lloyd and Kevin McCutchan place third individually, Treyton Hileman placed 7th individually.

FFA Trap Shooting

The Mercer County FFA Varsity Trap Shooting team placed 3rd at the Geneseo FFA Invitational Trap Shoot on Saturday, October 15.
