Last Day of School

The last day of school is June 4th. Report cards will be passed out and school will be dismissed at 9am. Please note that we will not be mailing report cards home.

Junior High Graduation SET

8th grade promotion has been set for June 2nd at 2pm in the Junior High Gymnasium. More information to follow.

Wrestling Champion


Congratulations to Tristen Finch (8th grade) for placing 1st at the State Wrestling Championship!

Science Explorers!


Mercer County Junior High Explorers will be advancing to State Olympiad. The team earned fourth place out of eight teams with a total score of 89, only 8 points out of third place. First place medals went to Alec Fiser and Tanner Shull in Meteorology, Shana Struble, and Morgan Milewski in Solar System. Second place medals went to Alec Fiser and Austin Jackson in Battery Buggy, Tanner Shull, Kale Moreland and Robert Moran in Experimental Design, Shana Struble and Bailey Swwanson in Cant Judge a Powder. The team received medals in 16 out of 23 events in all.


State competition is on April 10th at the University of Illinois. This is Mrs. Reick and Mrs. Reusch's second trip taking their students to the state competition.
The students have a wonderful opportunity to compete at a state level and participate with students with similar abilities and interests. The explorers appreciate all parents and mentors who have volunteered their time and expertise to assist in their journey this year.

Spelling Bee


Wednesday Night, David Hofmann won the Mercer County Spelling Bee.! Trenton Higgins, Jordan Monson, Carlea Kiddoo tied for second place, and Lucas Hamann placed 5th.! They will all advance to the Regional Spelling Bee on March 3 at Augustana College.

Explorer Test Results

On January 5th and 7th, the 8th graders will be receiving the results of the “Explore Test.” Mrs. Jones will be explaining the results to the students in their English classes. They will be bringing a copy of the results home for parents, so please be watching for them. Another copy will be available in the students’ Individual Career Plan folders at school. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Karen Jones, Guidance Counselor.
