Dennis Litwiler Scholarship

  • Scholarships will be awarded to Seniors of the current Mercer County High School graduating class.

  • Applicants  must have demonstrated positive moral and ethical values in his or her life.  Other value factors include character, attitude, community service and leadership.

  • Each Dennis Litwiler Scholarship will be presented upon proof or enrollment in either an accredited Vocational School or two or four year accredited college or University. Acceptance into an accredited Paramedic program would also be acceptable.

Illinois Masonic Scholarship

The scholarship application for the masonic scholarships will be online only this year. One application is submitted for the six available scholarships, each of which has unique qualifications

Tri-State Desk and Derrick Club

Recipient will receive up to $3,000 per school year for ONE year. Recipient must reapply for subsequent years.
The Tri-State Desk and Derrick Club invites all high school graduates and GED recipients who will be attending a TECHNICAL OR TRADE SCHOOL to apply.

Mercer County Women for Women

Awarding four (4) scholarships this year. These are available to female residents of Mercer County of any age who wish to further their education. This is not explicitly for high school seniors. Women pursuing 2-year, 4-year, vocational, or post-graduate education are welcome to apply. Scholarship recipients in 2023 are not eligible to apply, but previous winners in 2022 and earlier years may apply again.

Builder of Men Farmhouse Fraternity

To be eligible you must be a male student who will be attending the University of Illinois for the first time during the next fall semester. All majors are encouraged to apply.

Benjamin W. Hess Scholarship

Offering (1) $1000 scholarship to a MCHS graduating senior. Must plan on attending a 2-year, 4-year, vocational, trade, or technical school. Preference given to the following: an athlete, band member, or arts student, and one with military family background (but not limited to these preferences and anyone is encouraged to apply). Greatest attributes of the applicant should include solid character, a sense of humor, a kind heart, and a friend to all. Please include a picture of yourself in your favorite place or with your favorite hobby, something that is meaningful to you. Completed applications must be turned into the Mercer County High School Guidance Office no later than 

April 15 of the application year

The only stipulation is that the senior is steering himself or herself into the agriculture field of study.

Offering five $500 scholarships to applicants who are Mercer County residents planning to study in the medical field.

Dale Garner Memorial Scholarship

Available to any senior who will be attending college or trade school to pursue a career in the Ag field. (Future welders, electricians, plumbers and millwrights are also encouraged to apply)

Johnny Green Memorial Scholarship

Mr. Green was a kind supporter of New Boston Volunteer Ambulance Service. Upon his passing it was decided to award a $1500 scholarship to a Mercer County High School graduating senior in his memory. The student must be interested in pursuing a career as an Emergency Medical Services (EMT or Paramedic), other healthcare programs will be considered as well. The scholarship will be awarded upon proof of acceptance into a program.

Mercer County Golden Eagle Athletic Booster Club

Student’s parent/guardian must be member of the Mercer County Athletic Booster Club with paid dues.
Student must be a senior at Mercer County High School and participated in one or more of the following sports/activities: Cross Country, Football,Volleyball, Dance Squad, Cheerleading, Flags Squad, Basketball, Wrestling,Track, Softball, Baseball and/or Fishing Team.

Have formal plans to pursue a post high school education at a college, university pursuing bachelor’s or associate’s degree, trade, technical or vocational school.

Residing within a 30-mile radius of Galesburg, Illinois (if currently attending college this would be the person’s permanent address not the school address)

**NEW**Hessman/Feldman Education Scholarship

A $1000 scholarship is given every May to an MCHS senior who will be attending a community college or 2 year/4 year university (In IL or IA) majoring in Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary Education. Please turn in to the counseling office.

Illinois Nursing Education Scholarship Program

This program provides assistance to individuals pursuing a certificate in practical nursing, an associate degree in nursing, a hospital-based nursing diploma, a baccalaureate degree in nursing or a graduate degree in nursing.

Sandra Marshall Memorial Scholarship

Each year a $1000.00 scholarship will be awarded to 3-5 promising female African American high school seniors who exude the values of Mrs. Marshall- servitude, kindness, and acceptance of others.  A priority is given for students pursuing a career in teaching & social work with students that have experienced adversity.

NursingExams.org Student Scholarships

NursingExams.org has increased our scholarships this year to $1,000 each. Both scholarships have an application.

Early Childhood Education Scholarship

Any student pursuing their undergraduate or graduate degree in order to become an early childhood education teacher will be eligible to apply for this $1,000 scholarship award. The TeacherCertification.com Early Childhood Education Scholarship was created to help future educators on their path to earning their certification.

Due Date - June 1, 2023

***NEW***IPRB Scholarship

Recipient will receive up to $3,000 per school year for ONE year. Recipient must reapply for subsequent years. The Illinois Petroleum Resources Board invites all high school graduates and GED recipients who will be attending a 2-4 YEAR COLLEGE OR TECHNICAL/TRADE SCHOOL in 2024 to apply.

**NEW**Gold Star FS Scholarship & Work Program

Gold Star FS, Inc. will grant two scholarships, each in the amount of $500 per semester. These will be granted to high school seniors or college students pursuing a two-year degree at Black Hawk College East in either Agribusiness Management or Agriculture Production and an additional $500 per semester can be awarded by participating in our program.

 

Due: July 15th (for Fall semester) & Nov 30th (for Spring semester)

**NEW**City Property Management HOA Service Scholarship

  • Applicant must plan to attend college by fall semester of 2024.

  • Must have a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0.

  • A transcript must be attached to application for consideration
